Riot Games Compliance
This document is available in English. The English version is authoritative β in case of any discrepancy between language versions, the English version prevails.
This page describes how SpellRift uses Riot Games intellectual property, data, and the Riot Games API β and confirms compliance with the Riot Games Developer Policies.
Non-Affiliation Statement
SpellRift is not endorsed by Riot Games and doesn't reflect the views or opinions of Riot Games or anyone officially involved in producing or managing Riot Games titles, including League of Legends. SpellRift is an independent third-party application created and maintained by an individual developer. "League of Legends" and all related marks are trademarks or registered trademarks of Riot Games, Inc.
Riot Games API Usage
SpellRift uses the Riot Games API to retrieve publicly available League of Legends data to power its features. This includes data for players who link their Riot account, as well as data for other players encountered in their matches β for example, to display participant names and statistics in match scoreboards. The data retrieved includes:
- Player account information: summoner name, PUUID, tag line
- Current ranked standing: tier, division, LP
- Match history: champion played, role, KDA, items, outcome, duration
This data is used to provide SpellRift's core features β match feeds, leaderboards, player profiles, predictions, and challenge tracking. Match and champion data is also analyzed in aggregate to support current and planned features such as champion builds, item performance statistics, and meta analysis.
SpellRift's use of the Riot Games API complies with the Riot Games Developer Policies, including:
- Data is not sold, redistributed, or used for commercial purposes outside the SpellRift service
- Data is not aggregated for data-brokering, resale, or bulk redistribution
- Data is not used to identify or profile users outside the SpellRift context
- Data is fetched for linked accounts and, as needed, for other players appearing in their matches β consistent with the public nature of Riot API data and its intended third-party use
- We store only the minimum data necessary to deliver the service, and users can request deletion at any time
League of Legends Assets
SpellRift uses League of Legends assets β including champion names, champion artwork references, rank emblems, item icons, and ability icons β to provide context and visual clarity in match feeds, player profiles, and leaderboards.
All League of Legends in-game assets, names, and artwork are the intellectual property of Riot Games, Inc. SpellRift uses these assets in accordance with Riot Games' guidelines for third-party developers and the Riot Games Legal Jibber Jabber.
Assets are sourced from Data Dragon (Riot's official asset distribution service) and are used to support the service rather than for commercial gain independent of SpellRift's stated features.
Data Handling Commitment
SpellRift commits to the following with respect to Riot API data:
- We will not resell, sublicense, or share Riot API data with third parties
- We will not use Riot API data for training AI/ML models unrelated to SpellRift's features
- We will not use Riot API data for purposes beyond what is described in our Privacy Policy
- We will cooperate with Riot Games in the event of any compliance review
- SpellRift does not calculate or estimate MMR, hidden rank scores, or any alternative ranking metric β leaderboards display only official tier, division, and LP data as returned by the Riot Games API
